1. iRobot Roomba j7+ self-emptying robot vacuum
Robot vacuums are time-saving however, they can also cause problems if toys get stuck in their wheels. The machine will shut down in the event of this happening. iRobot Combo J7+, however, attempts to prevent this, and is the one of the first robots we've tested to mop. It's also the best of its kind for cleaning and navigating different floor types.
The j7+'s navigation system utilizes a front-facing camera as well as lasers to help it identify things like furniture legs or power cords that may hinder its path. It also recognizes the surface type and thus select the most effective cleaning mode for every area. This results in higher performance on different kinds of flooring such as pet hair and other debris that can cling to low-pile carpet.
In our tests the j7+ performed well on unfinished floors and picked up 97.3 percent of a strewn with Cheerios floor, and beating out the Roborock S4 Max and Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid, but not quite reaching their ideal cereal pickup scores. It also did a great job on low-pile however, it had a difficult time with high-piles, and was more likely to skim over the surface.
In contrast to most robot vacuums that empty at the base of the unit the j7+ automatically emptys within the dock. You can either set a schedule to empty the vacuum automatically or manually by a single button press. iRobot also reduced the size of the dock, so that you can put it in more places in your home.
The j7+ costs more than the Roomba i4 vacuum only however it comes with a lot of additional functionality. It's the most efficient robot we've seen in avoiding obstacles, and it features superior brushes, edge-sweeping mops and dual multi-surface rubber brushes, and more efficient navigation. It's also backed by iRobot’s Pet Owner's Official Promise that the company will replace any units that fail to avoid solid pet waste. We believe the j7+ is well worth the extra cost, especially in the case of pets and have a busy or cluttered home.
2. Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8
The eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid ticks all of the boxes for an ideal robot cleaner. It has a long-lasting battery, can be programmed to clean according to a set schedule, and has improved intelligence with multiple maps and LIDAR scanning. It also has the ability to mop hardwood floors and has twin-turbine suction technology that adjusts to the type of surface.
It's a big improvement in terms of features and design compared to the previous robotic vacuums from the company. It's not as distinctive as other robots available (round and shallow, with a lot of rounded edges), but it has elegant bronze accents that give it a more premium look.
The X8 has a simple interface and a well-designed app for iOS and Android. The interface is easy to navigate, clear and reliable. It is unique in its features, such as the ability to block off areas that you don't want to clean. You can also send it anywhere on the map of your home by tapping.
It can be activated manually by pressing the big play button or you can choose a specific area or room with the help of a box system that is intuitive. If you prefer, you can use voice control using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. The mopping pad isn't included however, you can purchase microfiber cloths and a small water container to go with the device.
It was a pleasure to see how fast and efficiently the X8 cleaned pet hairs and dirt off hard floors. It also performed a stellar job on carpets with high piles and unfinished floors, making it a very competent all-rounder. The comb can become blocked by hair however a quick swivel of the comb and a cut from a pair of scissors will take care of that.
The X8 comes with a two-year warranty and comes with a convenient charging dock. The X8 requires four hours to fully charge.
3. ILIFE V3s Pro
The ILIFE Pro V3s is a robotic vacuum that has a special focus on hair of pets. It is a tangle-free vacuum that does not employ brushes that could get clogged with hair clumps. This makes sure that your pet's hair does not get trapped inside the machine, and it's effectively removed from the flooring. The V3s Pro is also slim and self-charges automatically, adding layers of convenience to its already impressive set of features.
The V3s Pro's tangle-free suction earned it a top rating in our tests, capturing all the pet hair that we put on a hardwood floor without getting tangled or caught in the machine. It was able to collect some of the larger hair pieces I put on the floor which other machines were unable to. The ILIFE V3s Pro was also efficient in navigating tight spaces and its slim profile allowed it to easily travel under sofas and bed frames.
There are some flaws. As with most budget robot vacuums, the V3s Pro isn't capable of collecting debris from rugs or carpets with high piles. It's only able to get close to a knot of hairs and rugs before they are removed and its side brushes and suction were not powerful enough to uproot crumbles of mud that had been accidentally stepped on.
The ILIFE V3s Pro robot vacuum is a great option for those looking for a pet-friendly, budget-friendly option. Its battery can last for more than two hours and it is possible to program it to clean while you're away from home. It has a large dustbin of 300ml that can hold more dust than Roomba 675, and does not need to be cleaned as often. It also supports Alexa and Google Assistant, making it more user-friendly than ever. You can buy the ILIFE V3s Pro for $160 on Amazon for those who want to give it a go. It's a basic vac that has more than 11,000 five-star reviews, so it's clearly doing something right.

The X2 Omni also allows you to mop while vacuuming or vacuum first, then mop. This gives you maximum flexibility when cleaning your floors.
Another useful feature that you won't see often in robot vacuums is the capability to set up no-go zones, which lets you stop your robot from entering certain areas of your home. You can make use of the X2 app to set up virtual boundaries for your children or your dog's favorite napping area. This will ensure that your robot is only cleaning the areas you'd like it to.
If you'd rather control your robot's voice on your own, the updated YIKO 2.0 voice assistant can take commands like "talk back" commands, command modifications such as "move forward and clean here", and advanced scheduling commands, such as "schedule for 10am every Saturday". It also works with third-party smart hubs such as Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant making it easy to integrate your existing system.
If the price tag of the X2 Omni isn't what you're looking for, there are other options available that can provide good cleaning performance and a smart navigation for less. The $399 Deebot Neo is a basic vacuum cleaner with no navigational capabilities. The T20 Omni is on the other hand, doesn't come with mapping technology and is a cheaper option for those looking to mop floors.
